Vandaag hebben we een tour naar Mutawintji National Park. We worden opgehaald door onze tourguide Mark (blijkt een neef te zijn van onze tourguide in Mungo). Onderweg hebben we morning tea (koffie, thee met wat erbij). In Mutawintji National Park hebben we een tour langs Aboriginal muur schilderingen. Erg interessant en Fleur mag met de andere wat grotere kinderen dicht bij de schilderingen komen. Daarna lopen we nog een stuk door het park naar rots kunstwerken (tekeningen die in de rotsen zijn gekrast). Dit is een heel bijzondere plek want het is een van de beste plekken in Australë om zulke rots kunstwerken te bekijken. Onderweg zien we natuurlijk weer kangaroos en ook veel emoes. Ze lopen gewoon op de weg en huppelen dan weg als we eraan komen rijden. We zijn met twee auto’s vandaag en dat is wel makkelijk omdat we op de terugweg door allemaal hekken komen (om de schapen in de weides te houden) die steeds open dicht moeten. Zo kan Erik dat afwisselen met iemand uit de andere auto. Alleen is de gids in de andere iets minder sociaal voor Erik want hij geeft iedere keer een dot gas als hij door het hek gaat zodat Erik stof staat te happen (a taste of the Outback). Wel grappig voor ons om te zien, maar niet zo voor hem natuurlijk. Als we weer terug zijn bij de motel willen Fleur en Daan heel graag zwemmen. We doen weer een poging, maar net als de vorige keer is het water ijskoud. Gelukkig is het zwembad deze keer nog wel in de zon en dat maakt het dan een heel klein beetje aangenamer. Als we weer opgewarmd en aangekleed zijn, rijden we naar een uitkijkpunt bij het meest luxe restaurant van Broken Hill zodat we de zonsondergang kunnen zien. Daarna nog een restaurant zoeken om te eten en dan weer terug naar de motel. Het is hier geweldig mooi en Broken Hill een heerlijke stad. We genieten nog steeds volop.

Today we had a tour to Mutawintji National Park. We are picked up by our tour guide Mark (who turns out to be a cousin of the Mungo tour guide). On the way we have morning tea (coffee, tea and something to eat). At Mutawintji National Park we have a tour past Aboriginal wall paintings. It is very interesting and Fleur can sit right in front of the paintings with the bigger kids. After that we walk through the park some more to see rock art (drawings cut in the rocks). This is a very special place because it is one of the best places in Australia to see rock art like this. Of course we also see kangaroos and a lot of emus today. They are walking on the road and rush out of the way when we drive by. We are with two cars today and that is good because on the way back we have to go through a lot of gates (to keep the animals in the paddock ) and we have to open en close them all the time. And now Erik can take turns with someone from the other car. Only the guide in the other car was not so nice to Erik because he speeds up every time he goes through the gate so Erik catches a lot of dust every time (and getting a taste of the Outback). For us it is a funny thing to watch, but for him it is not of course. When we get back to the motel Fleur and Daan really want to have a swim. And so we are having another try, but just like the other time the water is freezing. But lucky for us the swimming pool is in the sun this time and that makes it a little bit better. When we are warmed up and dressed again, we drive to a lookout point at the most luxurious restaurant of Broken Hill to watch the sun set. After that we look for a restaurant to have dinner and go back to the motel. It is absolutely great here and Broken Hill is a wonderful town. We are still having the time of our lives.
