Feestje Fleur / Birthday party Fleur

Vandaag was het dan eindelijk zover. We vieren vandaag het cheerleader feestje van Fleur. Van de zes kinderen die we hadden uitgenodigd, komen er vier. Om 14.00 uur komen alle kinderen verkleed als cheerleader naar ons huis. De eerste 10 minuten wordt er nog even rondgerend in huis en een beetje gespeeld. Dan gaan we naar buiten om de kadootjes uit te pakken, te zingen voor Fleur en om taart te eten en wat te drinken. Omdat ik dacht dat de kinderen in het begin wel wat verlegen zouden zijn, had ik besloten om eerst wat te gaan knutselen en daarna pas het cheerleaden te laten beginnen. Maar de meiden waren dit jaar helemaal niet verlegen en stil, maar het knutselen was wel een goed idee. Ze hebben houten doosjes (sieradendoosjes) versierd met allemaal mooie plakkertjes en glimdingetjes en stiften. De doosjes zijn allemaal erg mooi geworden en ze waren er langer mee bezig dan ik had gedacht. Tegen de tijd dat ze klaar waren met versieren, kwamen de cheerleaders. We hebben echte cheerleaders laten komen om de meiden wat echte cheerleader dingen te leren. Eerst kregen de meiden een beetje glitter op het gezicht en daarna werd door de cheerleaders een kleine show gegeven. Dat was natuurlijk al heel erg leuk. Toen was het tijd om ook echt iets te leren. Alle meiden en Daan kregen grote pompoms en toen moest er worden geoefend. Het is toch niet zo makkelijk als het lijkt om al die stapjes en sprongen te leren en dan ook nog je armen met de pompoms de goede kant op te laten gaan, maar het lukte uiteindelijk best goed. Daarna werden er twee groepjes gemaakt die het dansje nog een keer gingen oefenen en ook een yell erbij moesten bedenken. Dat mochten ze daarna aan elkaar laten zien. Toen was het tijd voor even heel iets anders. Even uitleven met trucjes leren en spelletjes in het gras. En daarna even allemaal dezelfde rokjes aan voor de show die gegeven werd voor alle ouders die de kids kwamen ophalen. De show werd nog een paar keer gedaan en de ouders vonden dat natuurlijk ook heel erg leuk om te zien. Het was echt een heel erg leuk en gezellig feestje. Mede door de geweldige show en les van de cheerleaders.

Today was finally the day. We are celebrating Fleur’s cheerleader birthday party. Of the six kids we invited, four will be there. At 2 pm all the kids come to our house, dressed as cheerleaders. The first ten minutes they run around the house and play a little bit. Then we go outside to open the presents, to sing for Fleur and to eat cake and have a drink. Because I thought the kids would be a little bit shy in the beginning, I decided to do a craft thing first and after that the cheerleading. But the girls were not at all shy and quiet this year, but the craft thing was a good idea anyway. They decorated wooden boxes (jewelry boxes) with a lot of nice stickers, and shiny flowers and markers. The boxes turned out really nice and they were busy a lot longer than I expected. By the time they were finished decorating, the cheerleaders were already here. We had real cheerleaders to teach the girls some real cheerleader moves. First the girls got some glitter on their faces and the cheerleaders did a little show. That was really fun to watch. After that it was time to learn something. All the girls and Daan got big pompoms and started practicing. It is definitely not as easy as it looked to learn all the steps and jumps and at the same time move your arms with the pompoms in the right way, but eventually they did very well. And then they made two groups to practice the dance a little bit more and to think of a yell. Of course they had to show that to each other. And after that it was time to do something completely different. They did some tricks and games on the grass. After that they all had to wear the same skirt for the show they did for the parents who were here to pick up the kids. They did the show a couple of times and the parents all loved watching that. It was really a nice and fun party. Also because of the wonderful show and lessons the cheerleaders gave. Thanks everybody.
