Naar het Maritime Museum / To the Maritime Museum

Het is vakantie en dus moeten we af en toe iets leuks verzinnen voor de kids. Vandaag gaan Fleur en Daan samen met mij naar het Maritime Museum in Sydney. En Nicole, Talia, Boston en Maia gaan ook mee. Dat is natuurlijk heel erg gezellig. We rijden met Erik mee naar Gordon en nemen daar de trein naar het centrum. Omdat er veel regen voorspeld is, nemen we de Monorail (een soort tram/trein die op een rails een stuk boven de grond rijdt) naar het Maritime Museum. Fleur en Daan vinden dat geweldig. En omdat Nicole en kids iets later komen, maken we nog een extra rondje. Bij het Maritime Museum gaan we eerst naar Wetworld. Er is een grote tent opgezet waar de kinderen kunnen spelen met waterbanen, waterspelletjes, een watergevecht houden en nog veel meer. Maar allemaal leuke dingen met water dus. Daarna gaan we in de vuurtoren die daar staat. Je kunt bijna helemaal naar boven lopen met een rondlopende trap, en het laatste stukje met een losse vlizo trap. Best spannend hoor met al die kids bij ons. Maar het uitzicht is echt heel mooi boven. Daarna gaan we snel naar binnen want daar is een kindershow bezig die vertelt over Ötzi, de oudste mummy ter wereld. Met een leuk verhaal worden de kinderen meegenomen naar het avontuur van Ötzi en langs de hele tentoonstelling die daarover gaat. Het is heel interessant en de kids vinden het ook erg leuk. Om 14.00 uur is het tijd om nog wat te gaan knutselen. Ze kleuren en plakken wat en maken een leuke tas met papier en leer. Dan is het alweer tijd om richting huis te gaan. We lopen nog een stukje langs Darling Harbour en dan gaan we met de monorail en de trein terug naar papa in Gordon.

It is holiday time and once in a while we have to think of something nice to do with the kids. Today Fleur, Daan and I go to the Maritime Museum in Sydney. And Nicole, Talia, Boston and Maia are also going. That will be lots of fun. We drive to Gordon with Erik and take the train to the centre there. Because they said we would have lots of rain, we take the Monorail (some sort of tram/train that rides on a track a few meters above the ground) to the Maritime Museum. Fleur and Daan love it. And because Nicole and the kids will be there a little bit later, we make an extra round with the Monorail. At the Maritime Museum we first go to Wetworld. There is a big tent where the kids can play with water games, hold a water fight and lots more. But it is all great things with water. After that we go to the light house that they have there. You can climb almost to the top with stairs that go round, and the last part with a small stairs. Pretty exciting with all the kids. But the view is really worth it from up there. After that we rush back to the museum because the children’s show starts that tells the story about Ötzi, the oldest mummy in the world. With a fun story the kids are taken on the adventure of Ötzi and through the exhibition about that. It is really interesting and the kids love it. At 2 pm it is time to do some crafts. They color and cut some pictures and make a nice bag with paper and leather. Then it is already time to go home. We walk past Darling Harbour and than take the Monorail and the train back to daddy in Gordon.
